The College and Community

Contra Costa College is a public community college serving the diverse communities of West Contra Costa County and all others seeking a quality education since 1949. The Department of Music focuses on conservatory-like education, tailoring educational plans that reflect each student's unique career and personal goals. While students learn in class settings, their educational experience is an ideal balance between individualized instruction and ensemble participation. Students commute from across the San Francisco Bay Area to study with world-class faculty. The department offers showcases, concerts, and recitals featuring students, faculty, guest artists, and large and small ensembles. Students perform on campus and travel throughout the nation and the world.

Programs of Study

The CCC Music Department offers three degrees with musical emphasis. Students receive advisement as to which degree best serves their unique career or personal goals. Advisement occurs during the first week of each semester. Appointments are first-come, first-served, and the sign-up sheet is located on the door of M102. Our music students transfer to universities and conservatories throughout the nation, and many students are offered performance scholarships.
