Vocal Ensembles
JazzaNova, Dr. Stephanie Austin, Director
JazzaNova, Contra Costa College School of Applied and Commercial Music's daytime jazz vocal ensemble, was formed in 2008. Each fall, a 4-8 voice group is selected from the auditioned students. The group is an intensive jazz vocal offering for transferring music majors. JazzaNova won Outstanding Performance from DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards, June 2013 & June 2015, was a category award winner at the Reno Jazz Festival 2012, and has been honored as a national finalist in the 2010 and 2011 Monterey Jazz Festival Next Generation Competition.

Jazz Singers, Dr. Stephanie Austin, Director
Jazz Singers are the entry level vocal jazz ensemble for music majors and singers in the Contra Costa Singers. They perform at the Cuesta Jazz Festival and the Jazz Vocal Gala.

Schola, John Montanero, Conductor
Schola is an evening community chorale specializing in early vocal music of the European tradition. They perform a cappella repertoire in the context and natural acoustcs for which it was written. Performances encompass Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, Baroque fugues, Spirituals and 20th Century literature. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 6:00-10:00, M116.

College Chorus, Dr. Stephanie Austin & Jennifer Griest, Directors
College Chorus is a daytime large chorale for beginning and advanced singers. The Chorus performs for Fall Showcase, SongFest, and Jazz Vocal Gala. Rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday, 12:45 PM - 1:35 PM.

Cantabile, Dr. Stephanie Austin, Conductor
Cantabile is made up of invited singers, as well as CCC jazz vocal alumni. The ensemble meets each Spring semester for six rehearsals and performs on the SongFest concerts. Cantabile performed in New York's Carnegie Hall, Spring 2018.
